Week Beginning 2nd June 2025

We have had a great week back after half term, the children have been really involved with helping in the garden, from weeding and pruning to watering and replanting, we have now got strawberries turning red, our radishe s are getting bigger, and our runner beans are beginning to flower. This is giving lots of opportunities to chat about growth and what we like to eat, what colour the vegetables and fruit will be when they are finished.

We have been utilizing the fair weather and been playing outdoors, we have been hanging our socks on our washing line, this encourages the children to count and to recognise the numeral that corresponds to the number, and hand eye coordination to use the pegs!
We have been talking to the children that are off to school about what they want to be when they grow up, and drawing pictures of their ideas. We have had lots of interesting career choices, and the children have been asking the adults what they want to be when they grow up too!

We have gone out in small groups and picked flowers, leaves and natural resources to glue and stick, the children enjoyed the sensory experience of what the different smells and textures of the items and using lots of lovely descriptive language. The children have continued to be great snack helpers, choosing which fruit or vegetables to cut, listening to the safety instructions and cutting with the knives correctly. This encourages independent choices, listening to instructions and enables discussion about healthy snacks.
