On Monday we continued to practice our phonics and our daily yoga. We also decorated our own lanterns in aid of Chinese New Year. We spoke about Chinese New Year and what people did to celebrate this.
On Tuesday the children took an interest to our musical instruments. To extend their thinking, we made our own shakers using empty water bottles with some rice and grains. The children then drew their own unique picture to go on their shaker. The children and adults then sang some nursery rhymes and shook their shakers in time with the song. One of the children suggested doing to ‘shake and shake and shake and stop’ song. The children took the lead in this and each took a turn to take the lead. On Wednesday we did charcoal drawings to experiment our black against white and white against black. We also did junk modelling and the children made lots of boats, factory’s and shops out of cardboard boxes and then used paint, glue etc to decorate them.
On Thursday we got some new cable reels in the garden. We used them to climb up and then sit, use our shakers we made and put a plank of wood between them and balance ourselves to get across the plank of wood safely.
On Friday we focused on our handwriting and spent lots of time making sure we were using a tri-pod grip and controlling the pencil with the worksheets we have.
