Welcome back! We hope you all enjoyed your week off.
This week has been very exciting for us as we started our new music, story and play session on Wednesday. We had many new families come along and lots of existing families too. Thank you to everybody who came, and we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did! If you would like to book for next week, please speak to a member of staff or call us on 07930 963638.
This week the children have been exploring messy play. We made banana slime which the children used their hands to mix the ingredients together and use their senses to then explore the slime. We have had many families bring us in their recycling which has been fantastic for a variety of resources to use for junk modelling for the children to then get creative and use their creations to support their play in other areas.
On Tuesday the children had pancakes at snack time. Lots of the children enjoyed the lemon on their pancakes and others preferred it plain. We spoke about why we have pancakes on Shrove Tuesday and the conversation then went onto about flipping pancakes in a frying pan. Many children told us that they have had a go at flipping pancakes with an adult at home!
The weather hasn’t been great this week so as well as exploring outside, we have been ensuring that we have physical time inside too. We have been listening to action songs and doing what they ask us to do. Many of the children like the freeze song where they dance and then the person tells us to freeze. The children were able to listen carefully and follow instructions. They moved in a variety of ways such as jogging, skipping, jumping and crawling.
On Thursday it snowed! The children were keen to get straight outside and explore. They observed the snow not settling and said it’s because of the water already on the floor from the rain. However, they used their hands to try and catch snowflakes in their hands. They had conversations between themselves about it being cold and the different weathers we get and that it only snows when its cold outside.
Friday, we made a big track using masking tape to use the cars on. This encouraged children to negotiate their own space and manoeuvre around others safely. They used lots of lovely language to describe where they were driving to.
We hope you have a lovely weekend and look forward to another fun week next week!
