This week we have begun the countdown to Christmas! We have begun our Christmas board, and have started to make our families lovely Christmas gifts to take home! We have had a visit from our photographer, and had some beautiful Christmas themed pictures of the children, and we have helped the children design their own Christmas cards to send to loved ones. We have been using lots of paint and glitter to create Christmas Stockings, window decorations and cut out clay shapes to hang on our Christmas trees.
We have been doing lots of lovely role play in the home corner, having lots of imaginative play with our small world area, and building fantastic creations in the construction area, this encourages lots of lovely language with the children planning and executing their ideas and thoughts, and enables them to share resources and work together.
We have been outside exploring the change of season, the children really enjoyed playing in the leaves, throwing them in the air and trying to catch them! We have been talking about the environment around us, and the change of colours in the hedgerows and trees, how many different coloured leaves they can find, what they feel and smell like and why they change colour and fall off the trees. This enables the children to discuss the world around them, the changes that occur over time, and what is happening to the plants and trees in their own garden and make comparisons.
