This week we have been rearranging our water wall, the children have helped to place the various items and have been testing the tubes and funnels to ensure they worked. This enabled the children to negotiate with each other, and lots of discussion about which tools to use for each part of the job.
The children have been really engaged with the mud kitchen, we picked different herbs in the garden to add to our mixtures, this encouraged the children to imitate real life actions through their play, share resources and ideas of what to make.
We added diggers to the tray to help transport our ingredients to where they were needed!
The children have really enjoyed the small world activities this week with the farm, the dinosaurs, the trains, happyland. The favourite of these activities has been the Potato Heads! This is great for their social skills, by involving their peers in the theme of play, and encourages conversation about what they are doing, what they are planning to do next, and discussing their own facial features!
We have had a variety of craft activities, painting the easel, drawing with different media, and lots of cutting with scissors. This promotes hand eye coordination and small motor skills.
