This week we have continued our Mothers Day craft, completing beautiful cards, flowers and making fairy cakes, and then icing them with sprinkles for our mummies and loved ones.
We have really enjoyed playing pirates this week, this engaged the children with lots of small world play and lovely chatter between peers, making up characters and stories within their play. We also had lots of fun playing our matching story games, from Dear Zoo to Brown Bear, Brown Bear, this is where the children match cards to the different characters in the story, and have to correctly identify the right colour character to put on the corresponding spot on their card, encouraging good listening and the ability to differentiate between individual features of the animals.
We have been engaged with our hand eye coordination toys, from the magnetic ball matching to threading, this has encouraged lots of mathematical language, and problem solving to make their pictures match the card they are using.
We have done lots of physical play in the garden, the children have been busy on the trampolines, the see saw, bikes and jumping into hoops. The children came up with their own arrangement of hoops and negotiated a game of follow the leader, which was lovely to see them extend their play.
Have a lovely mothers Day, see you next week!
