We have been having so much fun at Pre School, our theme last week was Holidays, so we had the airport, car garages and the trains out, this encouraged lots of lovely conversations about how we get to our holidays and where we will go when we get there!
We incorporated a seaside theme with the water play, with lots of boats and different types of sea creatures, with those that live in deep water, and we had a sandy bay on the tuff spot for those animals that like the shore. this enabled the children to show their knowledge of which creatures live where, and whether they can live under water, or if they need air to breathe like us.
This week our theme has been sports, so we have been out on the field each day with a different activity. We started with an assault course, then to extend this we did climbing and balancing, we moved on to running races, including bean bag relay, we did lots of throwing and catching with a variety of equipment and played some football. We also had an egg and spoon race and a sack race! This enabled a variety of physical movement, coordination and control, and the children really enjoyed watching each other and cheering them on!
We have been utilizing the warmer weather and have had lots of water play out, we have washed the mud kitchen, the ducks, the boats and the children wanted to extend this by giving all the dollies a bath and change of clothes. these activities enable the children to act out their real world experiences, to share resources, take turns and discuss together what they are doing and collaborate to achieve their goals. Great teamwork, lovely to see!
