We have had lots of fun since the Easter break, we have continued our planting, we have carrots, lettuce, broad beans, chillies, coriander, tomatoes and strawberries growing, and have planted sunflowers this week, so when they start to sprout the children can take them home to look after and see which ones grow the tallest!
We have been making a variety of creepy crawlies to continue our theme of The Hungry Caterpillar, the children drew the caterpillars and what they thought it might like to eat, we have also painted different bugs to play in the grass. We had an activity with ice, where the bugs were frozen and needed rescuing, the children really enjoyed smashing the ice to set them free! we had lots of bug related games, such as "I Spy",, the children did very well to identify and locate different foods and items from the story and enjoyed colouring them in. Then on Friday, the children made fruit kebabs, helping to cut up the fruit and put them onto sticks, which they then ate for snack. This encouraged lots of lovely chatter about our likes and dislikes, enabled great hand eye coordination and following instructions safely.
We had a visit from the Mini athletics, we went out onto the field and did several physical activities with the coach, where they matched the coloured cones with the dinosaur horns, we then hunted for dinosaur eggs, with lots of roaring and jumping, we then finished with some races and the children went up to the podium to receive a sticker!
