This week we have really enjoyed drawing in the garden, from using chalk on the floor, to drawing around different shapes, including ourselves. This encouraged lots of chatter with mathematical language, how big, how small, how tall, matching and recognizing different shapes,.
We have had lots of role play and small world activities, we had lots of fun in the castle, riding the horses and climbing the ladders, we spent time on the moon with the astronauts, this enabled lots of conversation about our planet, and the other planets and stars around us. We have used the sea creatures in the water, and dinosaurs in the sand, with buried bones and fossils to find. We also made a dinosaur den out of the wooden bricks and the light up bricks, with lots of dinosaur eggs hiding in the blocks.
The children were really engaged with the tap a shape activity, this encourages small motor skills and hand eye coordination, and the children were able to relay what pieces they need to make their pictures, from boats and houses to people that are important to us.
We have begun making Family Books for each child, this is full of lovely pictures of each child's family, important people and pets, this encourages the children to talk about their loved ones and is support for them to have something personal to them at Pre School.
