We have had a couple of very busy weeks at pre school, we have been out in small groups to litter pick for the Great Winter clean, the children really enjoyed going out and identifying the different types of rubbish and using the litter pickers, and showed lots of pleasure in doing an activity as a group, praising each other for finding items and helping each other to place items in the bags.
We have continued our Bear Hunt theme, and have created bear masks, we then extended the activity and made binoculars to help us find the bears! This also encouraged the children to look for birds for the RSPB bird watch weekend, and we ticked off the birds we could see, and had lots of lovely discussion about their colouring, size, how some are very similar and some are very different, and how each one sounds.
We have been really engaged with the construction activities, we used the giant polygons to make a house, then we converted them into a large tunnel! The mobilo is still the choice to make the best vehicles, with the Weebles or Peppa Pig to go along for a trip to the shop! We had lots of fun with the little boats in the sea, creating waves and sinking by pouring!
We have celebrated Chinese New Year by making lanterns, we also had some noodles for snack, which the children enjoyed. We talked about the different animals that are represented within the Chinese zodiac and which one we would love to be!
