Week beginning 8th May 2023

This week we have begun to repot (again) our plants. The carrots, sunflowers, sweet peas and wild flowers are really sprouting, we even have a turnip growing! This is encouraging really interesting questions and conversations about where our food comes from.
We also found a snail in the garden, the children spent time watching it come in and out of its shell, and how it maneuvered around. We also did our weekly headcount of our stick insects, we now have eleven! These activities enabled the children to show care about living creatures, what lives in our garden, and chat about what creatures might live in their garden.

We have had lots of fun with our small world, we enjoyed the cars and garages, Peppa Pig, and a variety of animals, in the farm, the zoo, and in the sand! We have played lots of colour and shape matching games with our wooden items, this encouraged lots of discussion about which items were the same and different, and the children did very well at identifying the features of the different objects,

The children were really engaged this week with washing the garden with buckets of water and a variety of brushes, we are also washing up the mud kitchen utensils each day, this has encouraged good teamwork, problem solving and turn taking.

Have a lovely weekend!
