Happy new year everyone, we hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. The staff and children have all been so happy to be back after our long break, and we have also welcomed to a few new friends who have joined us this term, you have all settled in amazingly!
The Children have been so engaged in their activities this week and have rekindled their friendships with each other. It has been lovely to see them sharing the resources, for example we’ve had big groups of children sharing the space at the sand tray this week, adding resources of their choice, building sandcastles, and making marks with cars and diggers. Maria then extended the sand play by making kinetic sand with cornflour and oil, this changed the texture and allowed the children to mould the sand into shapes with their hands.
In the arts and crafts area, the children have begun to help Shannon create a Circle time board using colours of their choice to paint their hands and print them onto the board. We have also explored sticking with different materials, using pens to make marks and mixing paint to make new colours.
Our interaction with the bird life has taken off this week, we’ve seen a variety of birds come into our garden including Robins, Crows, Magpies, swifts and a Long-Tailed Tit. They have been enjoying our bird seeds on our bird table and the children have assisted Clair in making them a bird bath! If you wish to extend this at home, you can take part in the Great British Birdwatch which begins on the 28th of January through to the 30th of January, the link is at the bottom of the page.
We hope you all have a fantastic weekend and look forward to more Pre-school fun next week.
