What a busy week we’ve had here at Langham Pre-School! The children’s creativity is expanding every day, and this week one of our pupils made a whole animal park out of Duplo, the children’s buildings are beginning to have more purpose and meaning so they already have an idea of what they want to achieve before starting their builds. We use lots of different resources to encourage construction and our new magnetic tiles have been a huge hit, the children have made houses, diving boards and used them to dress paper characters.
The weather has been wonderful this week, so we have spent lots of time exploring the garden and enjoying the outdoor space. As the sunshine becomes more apparent so does our shadows and at the beginning of the week Maria and the children used chalk to draw each other’s shadow onto the floor. The children coloured their own bodies in and drew their faces on!
The middle of the week a member of staff made a Turkish milk pudding and the children helped to create the chocolate topping, the children had the opportunity to taste it after lunch and this encouraged them to try, taste and explore new foods and textures. Extending this more so, Maria created a ‘Dino Swamp’ using coco powder, cornflour, and water to create a sticky, gooey, muddy swamp with crushed up Weetabix surrounding it. The children have really enjoyed exploring food and textures in a variety of ways.
We have played lots of matching games this week with many different resources, from our new eggs to picture matching and sticking the children pick it all up so quickly and are always willing it have a go! Finally, yesterday was of course St. Patricks day so we watched some amazing River dancing on the big screen and decorated some shamrocks to stick in the children’s learning journals.
We hope you all have a brilliant weekend and we look forward to seeing you all next week for more fun and exciting new adventures!
