This week we have been making obstacle courses in the garden using wood and the benches to climb over. The children were using their gross motor skills to move around the obstacle course in different ways such as balancing, walking, climbing, and crawling.
We have been exploring colours being mixed. The children have predicted what colour they are going to create once they have chosen which two colours to mix. We managed to find combinations for purple and orange.
We have been reading lots of books this week and then been extending it by drawing what we can remember from the book. If you are interested in seeing what the children have been drawing, please look at the windows at the side of the pre-school to.
Pencil control has been something we have been practising on this week. Children have been determined make it all the way to the end of the squiggly lines. This encourages our fine motor and writing skills.
Outside we have been using sand in the mud kitchen to create lots of different dishes. With a little rain, the children have noticed a difference in the sand and therefore made soups when the sand was runnier.
In our circle time, we have been talking about boundaries. We are currently making a book with the children so we can recognise more of our boundaries at pre-school. All children were keen to give ideas such as walking inside and running outside. Some children gave examples as to why it is not good to run inside. We were incredibly pleased with the ideas the children gave as a group.
We hope you have a brilliant weekend and look forward to seeing you all again next week 😊
