This week we have been getting ready for our Jubilee party by making our very own crowns! Painting them all with red, white, and blue colours adding glitter and gems to finish them off. All our children are invited to come along with their families next Friday we’re all so excited to celebrate the queen’s special day. If you happen to pop into Colchester town, they have a small museum in Red Lion Walk that displays replicas of the royal crowns and jewels, it’s worth a visit!
When the weather has been nice this week, we have been sure to make the most of our outdoor space, using the bikes, balls, hoops, water, and sand the children have really enjoyed the sunshine and our fruit and vegetable patch has been well looked after by the children and they’re growing so fast!
The children have been getting very creative using our new pens to make lots and lots of pictures, some of which have been taken home and others will go into their learning journals. Other creations have included zoos made from lego, cakes and cookies made from our minty green playdough, and shadows in our sensory room from our torches.
At the end of the week, we added play balls into a deep tray, used wooden slides to roll them down and buckets or wheels at the bottom to catch them. We also made giant flower pictures from resources collected by a member of staff from her garden, using rose petals of various colours, leaves and stems to recreate a beautiful flower of our own.
Next week will see us do some cooking and more party prep! We hope you all have a fabulous weekend!
