We have had a fantastic two weeks with the children, we began our countdown to Christmas with decorating our Christmas tree, and putting decorations around the room! We have begun our Christmas wall display, and the children painted the Christmas tree and fireplace for their own decorated stockings! The children have started to make decorations to take home, and we have been practicing our Christmas songs, as we cannot have our usual Christmas concert due to current restrictions.
We have continued to practice our phonics with the lions, and have introduced the second set of phonics, E, C/K, D, H, M, and H, which the children are enjoying learning the new sounds and actions.
We have continued to practice our scissor skills and pencil control, we have been using the magnetic pen, lock board and threading activities to encourage hand eye coordination and fine motor skills, we have also had shape matching activities for the children to match the corresponding shape and colour, which they really enjoyed.
We have made Christmas pizzas this week, a choice of either stars or a snowman, with a variety of colourful toppings that the children picked themselves, they chatted about the ingredients and the process of rolling the dough and then cooking their pizzas.
We also took the children in small groups outside to tidy up our flowerbeds in preparation for planting new bulbs, and encouraged them to discuss what was in the flower bed and who might live there!
