This week we have made a new graphics area. The children have been keen to get in there and use the resources. Children have used scissors which encourages their fine motor skills as well as practising their cutting skills. We have also used sellotape, bingo dabbers, felt tips, crayons and pencils to create pictures of each other.
Leading on from drawing pictures of each other with different resources, we had a kind donation from one of our families of some Perspex table screens so that the children can paint each other. One child sat one side whilst the other child used different coloured paints to paint features of the child’s face on the Perspex screen. The children spoke about the features on their faces and how they have different coloured eyes and how some have the same.
This week was word book day and we made sure we made the most of it and read lots of books whilst at pre-school. The children each have their own book bag which they change their books daily to read at home. Each child was able to tell us their favourite book and we were able to read many of them at story time.
It was Woody (the pre-school rabbit)’s 2nd birthday on Tuesday. We celebrated with biscuits for the children, whilst making Woody plenty of playdough ‘carrot cake’s’ and sang lots of happy birthdays to him. Woody had lots of cuddles and had plenty of kale (his favourite food) and carrots to enjoy.
Although the weather has not been as great as last week, we have still been making the most of the outside with sand, oats, and rice. The children have been making sandcastles as well as using rice in the mud kitchen and using oats as gravel for the train track activity outside. This led onto conversations about what they eat for breakfast and what dinners they have rice with.
Just a reminder that we are starting our stay and play session on a Friday afternoon after Easter, this is for new children and parents to come and see what Pre-School is all about.
I hope you all have a great weekend, and we look forward to welcoming you all back next week 😊
