Welcome back to everyone after half term, we hope you had an enjoyable and well rested break! We’ve had a brilliant week back jam packed of new activities and we’re beginning to get ready for spring to arrive! Thank you to all the parents who have donated seeds, pots, and bamboo sticks so far, we are excited to bring our garden to life this year – please keep the donations coming anything at all is a huge help!
We have begun to move our garden around and so far, we have extended our mud kitchen area to make it more spacious, the children have enjoyed playing with the equipment and dried food in large groups. Due to the new space, they have also enjoyed using the balls to catch and kick, with peers and adults as well as using their bikes to zoom around the garden.
Inside we have looked at our fine motor skills this week, using tweezers to pick up coloured objects and place the correct number of objects into the correct coloured bowls – the children done such an amazing job with this! We also created some tennis ball monsters which we cut open a hole for the children to place pompoms inside them as if they were eating them up like Pac Man!
At the beginning of the week, we made sensory bags out of laminating sheets, inside we placed coloured goo (made from cornflour and water), oil with food colouring and glitter, rice, and damp sand. The children were able to move the contents around with their hands and we also used wooden ‘pens’ in attempt to make marks or move bubbles around. We also took our sensory resources over to the dinosaur tray to create them a scene involving sticks, mud, and crushed cereals.
Finally, we have continued to create new artwork, my favourite has been our ‘rice pictures’ the children drew a simple picture and went over it with PVA glue before adding on lots and lots of rice, it was amazing to see their drawing come to life!
What an incredible week we’ve had, we hope you all have a brilliant weekend! Don’t forget World Book Day is next Thursday so children may come in fancy dress if they wish along with their favourite book from home.
