This week, in advance of Jaws and Claws, we have been looking at nature that surrounds Pre-School. We have been concentrating on the local birds this week, and the children have really embraced this activity, they began to learn the names of the different birds, and how many there are, and are listening to the different sounds they make, lovely to see!
We have done some junk modelling, where the children made binoculars to view the birds, and we made a dinosaur!
The children have also been very keen to continue to water all of our fabulous plants, and are looking forward to seeing some tomatoes very soon!
We have been doing lots of counting activities, using different creatures. The children have been recognising colours and counting how many there are of each colour. They then extended their play by using the building blocks to make towers. They again used the different colours and were counting the blocks to see who could make the tallest tower.
We have had lots of water play, with our frog pond, and sea creatures. They have been engaging of what lives in these different areas. The children look forward to going to the beach next week to see if we spot any of the creatures, we have been playing with in the water tray!
The children have really engaged with the story ‘We’re going on a bear hunt’ read aloud on the interactive whiteboard by Michael Rosen. You can find this on YouTube for your child to enjoy at home.
We have lots to look forward to next week (Jaws and claws and a beach day!). We hope you have a great weekend.
