What a glorious week we have had at preschool, the weather has been kind to us, and we have thoroughly enjoyed spending time outside. We extended our shadow play from last week by using our coloured translucent bricks. We observed that if we put them directly in the sunlight and build them up, we can see their colourful shadows as the colours reflected onto the ground. We also now have our very own frog spawn in a separate water tray at the corner of the garden, many thanks to Clair for donating them out of her own pond so we can watch them grow through each step of the cycle.
Many children went home this week in a change of clothes as we have been having so much fun in the water trays, scooping, pouring, using paint brushes to ‘paint’ the fences with water, and of course making use of our awesome water wall, the children can pour paint and watch as it travels down the pipes and land into a pot or pan at the bottom! We got our soft play out into the garden too this week, the children enjoy building with the giant pieces as well as jumping on top of them!
Exploring new foods and textures has been a hot topic at pre-school, we use lots of dry foods to accompany our turf tray set ups like the ‘safari park’ this week. After easter we will be tasting, feeling, and exploring many different types of food including fruits and vegetables!
Inside we have been exploring many different resources including our letters and numbers, our new felt board is a fantastic opportunity for the children to learn and recognise them and we also have a dinosaur scene board to get super creative with! Other games have included matching objects and colours against ready made number cards which the children have enjoyed exploring.
