This week we have had our outdoor flooring resurfaced! The children have enjoyed watching the process. On Monday, the workmen pulled up the old green flooring and were here until Wednesday when they laid the new tarmac flooring. The children were able to recognise some of the tools the workmen were using. Whilst this was being done, we visited the park where the children could explore the different equipment. On Thursday we finally went to play on the new flooring. We were extremely excited and had a great run around as well as played with some footballs.
We have been practising our yoga this week. Some of the children were familiar with this and the new children were keen to join in and have a go. We do yoga every day as part of our mindfulness and to have some quiet time together. Also in circle time, we have now started our phase one phonics and we will do these as a group to the jolly phonics songs if anybody would like to practice this at home, here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=euxN7LGOoLc.
They children have been getting creative with resources on the arts and crafts table. Children have been using the stampers which develops their fine motor skills. Find more about fine motor skills and what you can do to help your child, here… https://www.inspiro.org.au/blog/improve-your-childs-fine-motor-skills. To extend this, we made playdough which also encourages children’s fine motor skills. They were able to pinch, pull, squeeze, and twist the dough which strengthens the muscles in their hands. We added oats for a different texture to the dough and then used cutters to cut out some playdough.
We wish everyone a great weekend and look forward to seeing you next week! 😊
