In the past few weeks, we have been very busy.
We have been exploring more of the outside with the variety of different weather, we used kites in the wind and jumped in puddles in the rain! The children have been very engaged in planting and repotting the flowers and herbs. We have been taking care of them by putting them in the sun on sunny days and watering them regularly, discussing what plants need to grow, what they might be, what they smell and feel like.
We have been dressing up in our own styles. The children have tried on glasses and goggles and had lots of fun with the beads, necklaces, and bracelets and checking the results in the mirror.
Over the last few weeks, we have also been looking at dinosaurs. We have found frozen dinosaurs and worked out how to get them out as well as dinosaur bones. We have looked at the bones carefully and hid them in playdough for our peers to find. We had a jelly bath for the dinosaurs to engage them with language related to touch. The children were able to talk to each other about how it felt and smelt. We also made a gigantic dinosaur swamp. We started by taking the children to the woods to collect their ingredients and the following day, we spent the day making mud piles, muddy puddles and using leaves, twigs to mix into the swamp.
We have begun our board this term, “The beach” and we are making lots of different items for the board, such as sandcastles, buckets, and spades, and chatting about the seaside and holidays.
Next week is half term, enjoy everybody! We look forward to seeing you all back on Monday 7th June 2021.
