Firstly, a big thank you to everyone who came to the beach on Friday, the children had a fantastic time, paddling in the sea, finding seashells, making sandcastles, and having lunch on the beach, it was a lovely day out for all!
This week we have made cupcakes with playdough, with the children using various sprinkles and small craft items, using tweezers. This encouraged lots of discussion about their decorations and their hand eye coordination. We’ve also used the tweezers this week to carefully place small objects onto our scales, this led to many discussions about what side was heavier/lighter in weight, and the difference between small, medium, and large objects that we found.
We have also found more minibeasts in the garden, bees, ants, different types of beetles and snails trying to eat our plants! The children have become more confident to look closely at each and some were happy to hold the snail, called "Dave!!" The children are really engaged with looking after our growing garden, watering them, picking the beans, weeding them, and keeping an eye on the bugs!
We have moved the room around slightly swapping our home corner for our reading area, they both seem bigger in space meaning more children can explore these areas at one time. We’ve had a very generous donation of a new sofa and writing table; these have gone down extremely well with our children, and we feel very lucky to have been given such lovely furniture. Within the home corner the children have been creating ‘ice-creams’ which seemed very appropriate with the nice weather we’ve been having.
Finally, as always, the children love to explore construction, using small and large bricks to bring their creations to life. They also have been very engaged in their own imaginative play, using resources like happy land characters, Peppa pig park and farm/zoo animals.
We’d just like to remind everyone that next Friday (08/07/22) alongside our usual baby & toddler group, we have invited all the children that start Langham Primary School in September along to meet other children going to the school, and to give the parents/carers an opportunity to interact with each other. Feel free to call or text for any more information.
