This week we made a giant train track, the children really enjoyed making the track go around the room, this enabled the children to negotiate work together and take turns in laying the track down. They liked to chat about where they would go on a train and what stops were along the way.
We have explored pasta and rice as a lose parts activity this week. The children added in mini diggers to pick the pasta and rice up with their buckets and added in a water wheel which the children figured out the rice made the wheel spin, but the pasta got stuck in the wheel as it was too big. However, we then trialled breaking the pasta up and the wheel started to spin with smaller pieces of the pasta.
We played several games over the week; the children particularly liked the shopping list game. They were able to identify the correct objects on their list, and this game encouraged chat about going shopping and what shopping we do with our families.
We also sorted bears by size and colour using tweezers, this aids hand eye coordination and being able to grip and use tools.
We have lots of fun with the paint pipettes, this enabled the children to practice their hand eye coordination and the cause and effect of squeezing the pipettes to fill them with paint and squeeze them onto the paper.
