Welcome back all, we all hope you had a wonderful half term! We’ve had a fantastic week, and everyone has settled back into preschool well. We started the week with lots of discussions about Halloween, going trick or treating and dressing up – the children all seemed to have a fantastic night on Monday as they were all full of excitement on Tuesday chatting about all the goodies they received! Tuesday was also a mega windy day, so we decided to make paper kites with string attached to fly around the garden, the children thought this was amazing having their own kites each to fly!
We used various construction materials to make homes for the farm animals and the dinosaurs, which encouraged turn taking, sharing, and many great discussions about which way was the best way to build! We’ve had the giant teeth out to brush and clean bringing on chatter about how we look after our own teeth. New puzzles arrived this week, as they were Peppa Pig themed they got a lot of attention from our children, they completed various puzzles some of which had 12 pieces in them! Puzzles are brilliant for children to use trial and error to get them in the right place, they also get a huge sense of achievement once completed.
A rainbow sensory tray was created this week, using rice and a variety of bright colours. The children enjoyed pouring, scooping, mixing, and observing the different colours on the tray. We then recycled the rice to create firework pictures using glue and glitter, we’ve chatted about the upcoming weekend and had visual displays of fireworks on the interactive white board for them to see. Other activities in the art area have included marble painting, dot-to-dot line tracing, colouring, maze’s and much more!
Thursday saw lots and lots of rain which restricted our garden time slightly, however we did get out in our wellies and raincoats and had a good jump around in the puddles! Please check your emails to see what our children will need at preschool for this weather. Finally, our attention bucket has made a comeback, this encourages all the children to sit and focus on the various items coming out of the bucket if it takes their interest.
Overall, a fantastic week back – we hope you all enjoy the fireworks this weekend!
