What an incredible week we have had, leading up to half term! Valentine’s Day has been a theme that we have included in our activities, such as cupcake making, pink sparkly homemade playdough and card making! The children have done a wonderful job at listening to instructions this week and making choices of their own to incorporate their creations.
We have continued with our artistic ways with mark making on our turf trays with chalk and using a cloth to wipe it clean again. We have been spreading paint with our hands, brushes and sponges in the turf trays too having lots of messy fun! We began the week by sticking random shapes onto paper creating our own mosaic pictures and extended this in the valentines ‘I love you to pieces’ cards that the children made for their families.
Other resources that the children really engaged with well this week included making animal zoos with the Duplo, creating tall towers with the wooden blocks, and playing animal pairs with the adults. Something that has been very popular this week is the children sharing stories with each other, which really broadens their imagination and confidence.
In the home corner this week the children have been setting up their own pretend picnic, using a blanket for the floor space, plates, pretend food and pretend drinks. All the children have really enjoyed interacting with their peers, sharing the pretend food, and using their own experiences to influence their play. We extended this even further by having a real ‘picnic’ at snack time as everyone gathered on the carpet to eat snack together!
Well done to all the children for a brilliant term, we hope everyone has a wonderful week off! Please feel free to add pictures and notes onto tapestry so we can see what you’re getting up to. We’ll see you back at pre-school week commencing 21/02/2022.
