This week we have had snow; This enabled the children to explore. We have been outside making igloos, snowballs and using the spray bottles with paint in them to make marks in the snow. The children have talked a lot about what happens to snow inside. We then brought snow inside to see what would happen when we mix the snow with paint. The children agreed that their warm hands would melt the snow. We also looked at icicles. The children were fascinated by the shapes/ sizes of them. There was some describing language used when exploring these, such as bumpy, freezing, rough, big, and small.
Inside we have been using the mirror on the tuff spot to look at animals’ reflection. The children were amazed that they could see two figures of the animals and themselves in the mirror.
We used coloured tweezers to pick up different coloured pom poms to then find the right coloured pot to put them in. The tweezers encouraged children’s fine motor skills. We then extended the activity by using the coloured bears to talk about prepositional language and asked the children to put the bears in, out, in front, behind and next to the coloured pots.
We hope you all have a great half term, and we look forward to welcoming you back on Monday 22nd February 2021.
