This week a lovely local couple donated two large bags of cardboard for junk modelling. So, with the Queens Jubilee being our hot topic lately, Clair and the children used cardboard boxes, tubes, and papier mache to create our very own castle. We took inspiration from the tower of London, Buckingham Palace, Hedingham castle and Colchester castle. The children also extended this by showing particular interest in building their very own castles/towers with the foam bricks, the sand, and the magnetic tiles. Alongside this the children have been creating their very own drawings of Queen Elizabeth herself which are now on display inside pre-school and on the windows for you to see outside the pre-school. The children paid so much attention to detail including things like her jewellery, her dogs, her home, or her crown!
All the children who attended this week was given the option to join in on our very own sports day. We took the children onto the field in small groups to find many activities laid out. This included a sack race, an egg and spoon race, an obstacle course, jumping, crawling, and chasing! Everyone had so much fun, and all the children received a medal and certificate for taking part!
With beautiful weather we have been taking care of ourselves ensuring we always have sun cream and a sunhat on in the garden, we’ve also taken great care of our plants in noticing they need watering more often too! We’ve had LOTS of water fun this week, from water paint guns to transferring water between three trays using jugs and slides. Also new resources were delivered by the manager on Monday, and this included binoculars! We have been birdwatching all week and exploring what else we can see through them.
Another excellent week had by all! We hope you have a wonderful weekend and as always, we look forward to what next week has in store for us!
